After price cut, Nokia 8 is undoubtedly the best smartphone under Rs 30,000

In an unprecedented move, HMD Global has slashed the price of the Nokia 8 by a whopping 8,000 rupees in a bid to rejuvenate sales. The Nokia 8, which was launched at Rs 36,999, is now available for Rs 28,999 - making it an absolute steal deal.
Nokia's comeback into the mobile game has revolved around three key factors - class leading design and build quality, stock Android and timely updates and support. By concentration on these simple things that matter and not running blindly after paper specs, the company has managed to carve out a nice niche for itself in today's hyper competitive smartphone space.
The Nokia 8 embodies all these qualities perfectly. The smartphone is the perfect example of what the new, HMD Global led Nokia is capable of. It is classy, charming and elegant and marries Scandinavian charm with fluid software and top of the line hardware.

And now at Rs 28,999 - it offers tremendous value for money. Yes, it does not come with an 18:9 display and a bezel-less design - trends which have become almost ubiquitous these days. It also lacks proper dust and water resistance. But if you can look past all that, you will find a solid smartphone that ticks almost all the right boxes.
The smartphone looks classy, is very durable, is extremely fast and has cameras that produce good, if not class leading images. To add to all that, it is built like a tank, has great battery life and runs on a near stock build of Android devoid of any extraneous bloat and overlays.

The QuadHD display is one of the highlights of the Nokia 8 - it is sharp, vivid bright and punchy. When it comes to specifications as well, the Nokia 8 does not disappoint. Just like all flagships of 2017, it runs on Qualcomm's latest high-end chipset - the Snapdragon 835. In fact, the Nokia 8 has now become the cheapest smartphone with the Snapdragon 835 processor.
The 835 processor is paired with 4GB of RAM, a 3,090mAh battery with QuickCharge 3.0 support and the Adreno 540 GPU. While 4GB RAM seems paltry in comparison to 6GB and 8GB found in competitors like the Honor View 10 and OnePlus 5T respectively, it is more than enough when paired with Nokia's beautifully optimised build of Android.
If you are in the market for a smartphone below Rs 30,000, do yourself a favour and buy the Nokia 8 - you will not regret it
The Nokia 8 handles both day to day use and intensive workloads with aplomb . And now at Rs 28,999 - you are getting flagship level performance at half the cost. The phone's battery life, which was already quite good, has become stellar after the Android 8.0 Oreo update.
Talking about software, Nokia has established a great reputation over the last few months for fast and fluid software and timely Android updates. The Nokia 8 was one of the first smartphones to receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update and has now received the Android 8.1 beta as well.
On the imaging front, the Nokia 8 comes with a 13+13MP dual camera setup at the rear with a RGB (colour) sensor with optical image stabilisation and a monochrome (black and white) sensor. Both cameras have an aperture of f/2.0 and can record videos in 4K resolution. The addition of the second sensor not only allows for the capture of images with depth of field effects but also improves low light photography. The monochrome sensor can be used to take some striking black and white shots.
In a nutshell, the Nokia 8 produces great images in well lit scenarios and holds its own in low light as well. It outshines the OnePlus 5T in low light but suffers from shutter lag which is annoying. The shutter lag has considerably reduced after the Oreo update though. The front sensor is a highlight of the Nokia 8 and is surely the best in its class.
All in all, the Nokia 8 is a stellar smartphone and a really great deal at its new discounted price. The Honor View 10 gives it tough competition - it has a bezel-less design, stellar performance, future forward artificial intelligence features and great cameras. It lacks a QuadHD panel though and its software is heavy and bloated.
If you are in the market for a smartphone below Rs 30,000, do yourself a favour and buy the Nokia 8 - you will not regret it.
