Tax payers can see status of returns filed on GSTN portal

Tax payers can now view the status of the returns filed by them on the GST Network portal, the company handling the technology backbone of the new indirect tax system said today.   "All users logging on the GST portal can now see the status of their returns filed for all the returns like GSTR-1 or GSTR-3B at one place," GSTN CEO Prakash Kumar said.   While GSTR-3B is in the initial sales returns filed by the 20th day of the succeeding month, GSTR-1 is the final sales return.   Businesses with turnover of up to Rs 1.5 crore have been allowed quarterly filing of GSTR-3B and the same for July- September period will have to be filed by December 31.   Those with turnover exceeding Rs 1.5 crore will have to file GSTR-1 for July-October by December 31.   GSTN has already provided to tax payers the functionality to claim refund of exports of services with payment of tax, ITC accumulated due to inverted tax structure and on account of suppl...

Various small savings scheme's interest rate cut by 0.2 percentage points

NEW DELHI: The Government on Wednesday has lowered the interest rates on various small savings scheme by 0.2 percentage points for the January-March quarter as compared to the rates in the previous October-December quarter of the financial year 2017-18.   The interest rate on the one-year time deposit has been lowered to 6.6 percent as compared to 6.8 percent in the October-December quarter, whereas the 2-year time deposit will now fetch a lower interest rate of 6.7 percent from 6.9 percent in the previous quarter.   A finance ministry notification also showed that the interest rates have been slashed for the five year National Savings Certificate to 7.6 percent from 7.8 percent in the third quarter while the interest rate for Public Provident Fund Scheme has also been cut from 7.8 percent to 7.6 percent for January-March quarter.   The girl child savings scheme, Sukanya Samriddhi Account will offer 8.1 percent interest rate from the existing 8.3 percent...

New York [USA]: The World Baloch Organisation (WBO) has launched billboards carrying the slogan "#FreeBalochistan from human rights abuses by Pakistan" across the iconic Times Square in the New York City.   The billboards up in the heart of New York will remain there as the city celebrates New Years Eve.   The billboards highlight Pakistan's kidnappings, torture and massacres in occupied Balochistan and the Baloch people's right to self-determination.   "Our aim is to reach out to the American public and make them aware of the worsening situation in Balochistan, which has long been ignored by the international community mainly due to Pakistan's desperate efforts to stop the truth from reaching the international community. Kabul blast: Death toll reaches 40

Kabul [Afghanistan], Dec 28 (ANI): The death toll in a suicide attack on Tebyan center in Pule Sokhtia area of Kabul on Thursday morning has reached to 40.   According to the Tolo News, the Afghan Ministry of Interior confirmed the death toll.   Earlier, it was reported that four people were killed and 18 injured.   The suicide bomber detonated his explosives at the gate of Tebyan center in the PD6 area.   The death toll may further rise as the health officials have said a number of those injured are in critical condition.   Social activists had gathered at the Tabyan social and cultural activity centre for a meeting when the blast took place, said one of the survivors.   No insurgent group has claimed the responsibility for the attack so far.

Ola may introduce Pass for Mini, Micro and Prime rides to take on Uber Pass

much like the Share Pass which was introduced earlier this year, Ola is now gearing up to bring the subscription-based Pass feature to Micro, Mini, and Prime rides as well. Reports are that this feature is currently in testing stage and Ola will make it official in the days to come. The upcoming Ola Pass will compete with Uber's new Ride Pass (yet to be official) and offer flat fares for select Ola Micro, Mini, or Prime rides. What it means is, using Ola Pass -- Micro, Mini, or Prime riders will have to pay one fixed price to cover a certain distance -- be it whatever time of the day they travel -- there will be no peak price charged. For instance, Delhi users using Ola Pass will have to pay a fixed price of Rs 105 for 10km in Micro, while Prime riders to cover 10km will have to pay a fixed price of Rs 140.
