Cross Hub
Japanese automaker Yamaha which is known for
producing motorcycles has unveiled a pickup truck concept called as the Cross
Hub at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show.
The overall design of the Yamaha Cross Hub is
funky and it is a utility vehicle with a cargo bed at the rear. The company has
also loaded the pickup truck with bikes to demonstrate that it is a perfect
weekend getaway vehicle.
The
front fascia of the Cross Hub concept is quirky with the plastic body cladding
running through the wheel arches to the nose of the vehicle. The faux skid
plates give the pickup truck a rugged look. Apart from that, the Cross Hub
features sleek LED daytime running lights.
The concept pickup truck features a raised
suspension setup which suggests that the vehicle is capable doing a bit of
off-roading. The Cross Hub is shod with chunky Falken tyres. The ground
clearance is decent enough to handle the rough stuff.
The Cross Hub concept gets a central driving
position and it is equipped with four seats arranged in a diamond
configuration. There is no word on the involvement of Gordon Murray, but the
central driving position hints that the McLaren F1 designer might be involved
in the project.
The
rear section of the concept pickup truck gets a cargo deck which is further
structurally separated from the cab as compared to the normal pickup trucks.
The cargo bed is spacious enough to hold a motorcycle for those weekend
getaways. Yamaha has not revealed the technical specifications of the Cross
Hub.
