Samsung J5 Prime 2018 clears FCC, expected to launch soon
samsung is on a roll as the South Korean company plans to announce a range of smartphones in the forthcoming year. The key highlight of them will be Galaxy S9 and S9+. Samsung is also apparently working on a foldable phone, and 3 A series phones, aka Galaxy A5, A7, and A8 (2018). Apart from the A series phones, Samsung is also planning to expand its J series with Galaxy J5 Prime (2018). The smartphone has already cleared the US-based regulatory body FCC, this means that the phone's launch is imminent.
The FCC listing -- like usual -- reveals some details about the upcoming smartphone. It reveals that the J5 Prime 2018 edition will be a dual-SIM smartphone and will come with a model number of SM-G571F/DS. Although there are no official words by Samsung on the J5 Prime 2018 edition, going by the reports, it seems, the smartphone may be announced in the early days of 2018.
Apart from the model number, the FCC listing also reveals some minor specs details about the smartphone. It suggests that the J5 Prime 2018 will come with several connectivity options like -- 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, Wi-Fi, and GPS support. The smartphone is expected to come with a non-removable battery. The FCC listing doesn't reveal any further details about the device.
Galaxy J5 Prime (2018) was earlier spotted on GFX Bench. The benchmark listing unveiled almost all the specs details about the smartphone. However, it is noteworthy that this hasn't been confirmed by Samsung as of yet. Going by the benchmark listing, the Galaxy J5 Prime (2018) will be powered by Samsung's Exynos 7570 quad-core processor coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
The display, when compared to the previously announced J5 Prime will be much smaller. The J5 Prime comes with a 5-inch HD display, while the J5 Prime 2018 edition is tipped to come with a 4.8-inch display with a 1280 x 720-pixel resolution. The smartphone is expected to come with Android 7.1 Nougat.
As of now, there are no words on if the smartphone will get Android Oreo update. Well chances are J5 Prime 2018 phone will be upgraded to Oreo, the reason being, the original J5 Prime was actually launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. But however, back in October this year, the smartphone started receiving Android 7.0 Nougat update. This probably leaves us with little chances that like the J5 Prime, the 2018 edition may also be upgraded to the next software version -- which is -- Android Oreo.
Meanwhile, the benchmark listing also reveals the camera details as well. It suggests that the Galaxy J5 Prime (2018) will come with a12-megapixel camera on the back, while on the front it will sport an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
