Orkut is making a comeback in India under a new name called Hello

Orkut which once was a widely-used and popular social media network is making a comeback in India with a new name- Hello. Orkut Buyukkokten, the creator of Orkut.com told The Hindu that he is planning to bring Hello to India in next two months.
Buyukkokten launched the beta version of the Hello in India last year. So far there have been around 50,000 installs of the app. The details given on the Plsy Store reveal that the app is compatible with devices running Android 4.4 and above.
Talking about the app's features, Hello comes with Facebook-like features like ability to create and join communities. The company says that the Hello communities are public and anyone sharing the same passion can join them. The app is currently in beta phase and could soon move out of it for an overall launch.
According to the Play Store listing, these are the features you will find in Hello:
- over 100 interest-based personas that reflect your passions
- an easy way to find, follow and friend people who share your interests
- a personality test that helps you connect with users you're more likely to get along with
- the ability to build reputation within your personas and attain status as a persona leader
- explore any persona, uncover new passions and expand your horizons

Hello is basically a social media network where you get friend suggestions only from your friend's list. The app needs to be downloaded first from the Play Store or App store and then sign up to start. User has to enter minimum 5 interest areas and select a prefered language at the time of signing up.
Named after its creator-Orkut Buyukkokte- Orkut was India's one of the first interactions with social media network. Buyukkokten developed Orkut as part of an independent project while working at Google as Software engineer. Orkut was one of the most popular and most visited websites in India and Brazil until Facebook entered the social media arena. In 2014, Google announced that it would shut down the Orkut and no new accounts could be created from July 2014. Orkut had by then become a community of more than 300 million members.
